We caught up with Henry Bernal, Banqueting Supervisor at the Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard and previous TempTribe worker who has carved a successful career in the hotel & hospitality industry!
1. Tell us about your time at Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard.
My first day at The Shangri-La was as a TempTribe agency worker (yes I used to work for you!)
After I had been working in the hotel for around 3 months they offered me the opportunity to join the team and due to working with TempTribe for over 2 years I had a lot of experience in differents hotels but this property was just unique and I couldn’t say no.
After 3 years and 7 months I still love this place like the first day, I’m the Banqueting Supervisor and glad to say that every day is different for me so I enjoy every minute of it.
2. How would you describe the team in the Events department?
My events team are the best! We always laugh, work smart and the most important thing, we ALWAYS smile because we are happy to be here.
3. What qualities are you looking for in your hospitality staff?
Commitment, communication skills, enthusiasm and a big smile.

5. What is your favourite memory from working at Shangri-La?
I met Jimmy Choo and was able to have a 20 minute conversation with him and get to know him a little bit. (TT- we are soo jealous!!!)

My favourite tipple is… Gin and Lemonade with 2 limes
The best place I’ve travelled to was… Prague but my favourite city is Barcelona.
